R U Perfect?
Nobody's Perfect... Right?
While this saying is politically correct it is a very false statement. At least it should be for a born again believer (Joh 3:2-8 says we are born of God's perfect Spirit and according to 1 Pet 1:23 it is incorruptible ).
The idea that we are to strive to meet a standard set by God while knowing we can never meet that standard in this life; this is a perversion of the gospel.
The church has taught that we helplessly continue to sin daily even after we are born again but the scripture clearly states the contrary. God's word says that those who are born again do not sin and in fact cannot sin because they are born of God. 1 Jn 3:9 again, that's incorruptible seed.
OK hold up, You mean that a born again believer Doesn't Sin? How can you say that?
First of all I didn't say it, God did.
1Jn 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
Consider the three parts of man:
Pneuma-Your spirit was born perfect by the Holy Spirit.
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever. 1Pe 1:23
Psyche-Your soul is perfected through faith in Christ's blood atonement.
For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Heb 9:13,14
By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Heb 10:10
Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Heb 13:20,21
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1Jn 1:7
Soma- You will have a perfect body in the resurrection.
What is sin? There are sins of commission, that is acting contrary to what we are commanded by law.
Then there are sins of omission, that is neglecting to act as we should. (Jas 4:17) to him that knows to do good and doesn't do it, it is sin.
Does God really expect us to live a sinless life? Well, we have been conditioned to expect sin for so long that our hearts have become hardened somewhat that we would accept it in our lives. However, I just can't imagine God commanding us to do something all the while knowing that even a born again spirit filled believer would not be able to do it.
